Diamond is the only gemstone in the world whose appearance is generated by the way it interacts with light. Sparkling like no other, Diamond is one of the most sought after and adored gems in the world.

A symbol of purity and strength, its name comes from the Greek "adamas", meaning "indomitable", a perfect adjective for the characteristics that so well represent this gem of extraordinary brilliance.

With almost 50 years of experience, Monseo is able to identify, qualify and select the best qualities of this gem, with its resident gemologist, in order to provide excellent quality Diamonds.
As the Diamond is present in almost all of Monseo's creations, this gemstone has always exerted its charm due to its qualities of resistance (Diamond has a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale) and the particular way it reflects light.

The Diamond doesn't just reflect brilliance, it reflects emotion and celebrates the most important moments of our lives. As well as being April's birthstone, the Diamond engagement ring has become an almost universal symbol of love and marriage.
The first recorded Diamond engagement ring was given by Archduke Maximilian of Austria to his bride, Maria of Burgundy, in 1477.

The Diamond's timeless charm was appreciated long before it became April's birthstone, and the places where they can be found are as fascinating as the tradition that surrounds it.
The worldwide love for Diamonds began in India, where Diamonds were collected from the country's rivers and streams. Some historians estimate that India traded diamonds as early as the 4th century BC.

In Tibet, it was said to lead to the path of truth. In Hindu tradition, Diamonds captured the light of the sun. The ancient Greeks regarded these stones as tears of the gods, while the Romans saw them as fragments of stars.
Over the ages it has been claimed that Diamonds promote longevity, strength, beauty and happiness.
